Balancing Act

A pretty decent definition of “journalism” comes from a most unlikely source: Fox News. Bernie Goldberg makes some pretty good points about what it means to be a fair reporter on Bill O’Reilly’s show.

However, O’Reilly deserves a demerit or two for telling Bernie not to give him additional info “because then I have to go back and research it.” Do journalists really avoid facts just so they don’t have to do the leg work?

Bill O'Reilly did a poor job arguing for other Fox News personalities. He didn't really have any facts to backup his statements, and he seemed to dance around the topic upon realizing this. -- TM

Hahahah. Bill O'Reilly's so cool, if he doesn't wanna do work, he'll say so. I like that. I like how he doesn't try to make like he's Mr. Facts, he's just on tv to spout off his opinions. He's pretty much like every personality on NJ 101.5. LK

I think Bernie Goldberg makes a good point how journalist add facts to make the story more enhanced. People on Fox do put their opinion on everything and makes things more relied up then what it really is. Bill O' Reilly actually saying that he does not feel like researching just proved the guys point and he doesn't even realize because he thinks his the best in business but his not. I cant stand Bill because he argues about everything, even when he knows his wrong but he has to be right of course. I think his immature because when someone is proving him wrong he will cut them off short. KH

OH MY WORD. O'Reilly is essentially saying, as someone else has already said below, that we doesn't wanna do work. And you call yourself a journalist? Um, okay. Also Goldberg was merely trying to support himself and his critique and O'Reilly wasn't having it.

It seems as if whenever someone disagrees with O'Reilly they can't have a discussion. Its his way or the highway. Another reason he sucks.

You can't claim to be a "social commentator" and then spout facts. People will take whatever they see on tv and run with it. Especially those who watch "Fair and Balanced" Fox News. Commentator programs are those like Regis and Kelly, The View, hell even Fox and Friends. Is Beck's show like that? Is O'Reilly's show like that? Ahem, no.

I could right for days, my main point is that O'Reilly completely contradicts himself in this clip. People below me have also done a really good job of dissecting this clip. Seacrest out.
